Bikeability and Purr-fect Pedalling

Bikeability is Cycling England's new "brand" name for the cycle training which is based on the new National Standard for Cycle Training. Bikeability was launched in April 2007 and will gradually be rolled out in schools across the country. At present the emphasis of Bikeability is on the formal courses provided for children in schools as a replacement for the old cycling proficiency training (which was broadly equivalent level 1b and 2 of the National Standard). Schools receiving this training can use Bikeability materials including providing badges and certificates for children who take part.

At present this material is not available for one-to-one training such as that provided by Purr-fect Pedalling. However Purr-fect Pedalling uses instructors who are accredited with the CTC to teach the National Standard on which Bikeability is based. In simple terms we can at present provide the training but not the badge! As Bikeability is developed it likely that these training materials will be come available to organisations not providing formal courses for schools.
